McKelvey Woods Trail

McKelvey Woods Trail, also called the Fee Fee Greenway, is a beautiful, quiet trail in Maryland Heights.  The trail is one of my favorites.  The path is easy to walk on and is paved and flat.  Right now it is 0.8 miles one way and has historical information at the end. I have seen cardinals, hawks, and other song birds while walking on the path.  In spring there are flowering bushes, and in winter the frost clings to the branches like a magic forest.

This park is also an excellent place to walk your dog.  The trail connects to Dogport Dog Park and has many stations for Dog Scooping.  McKelvey Woods Park is at the beginning of the trail with picnic tables, bathrooms, a playground, parking, and drinking fountain.  The trail is just down the road from Aquaport and Maryland Heights Community Center.

The trail currently has been selected as the new project for St. Louis County Parks and Recreation and the Great Rivers Greenway.  Here is a link to the plans.  Additional walkways are in the process of being built to connect McKelvey Woods Trail to Creve Coeur Lake!
