Christmas in Texas

After weeks of a nasty head cold, I was finally feeling better and was able to travel with my family to East Texas for Christmas!  Texas was warm and beautiful this time of year.  And while this post is not about St. Louis, I thought I would share some of the fun parks we found in Texas.  On the way to Texas and on the way back we ate at a little Chinese buffet in Pocahontas,  Arkansas called China Star Super Buffet.  I got to try my first frog legs!  My youngest loved them and the sushi.  I couldn’t overcome the fact that they had toes!

Frog Legs!

The weather was very warm in the 70’s.  The first day we were there, we went to the Azalea Gardens at Stephen Austin University.  The Azaleas bloom in March and I highly recommend seeing them then.

But even in January, roses and Japanese flowers were blooming.  The garden has many trails with sculptures and flowers and forest paths scattered throughout.   The children (and adults) loved getting out of the house and going for a walk.  Some of us took photos, others climbed trees, and some swung from vines.  It was a very enjoyable park to visit.
